So now I've lost my damn wedding ring. Woke up Tuesday morning and it was gone. Looked all over (and under) the house, in tiny cracks throughout the floorboard of the car, put on a swim mask and checked the drain at the bottom of the swimming pool (water was still icy, but I had cleaned the pool the day before, so the ring COULD have been in there). Looked in parking spaces at work, along the sidewalk, in the yard, in the bathroom. Looked in the bathtub drain line, in the pool pump filter, in the dirty clothes hamper. Basically, looked everydamnplace.
The wife took it well, considering. I mean, she asked if I had left it on somebody's bedside table. She thought it was interesting that we had been fighting in the last week and she had stopped wearing her rings -- now I had "lost" mine. But that's what happened. I wouldn't feel this crappy about it if I had thrown it away. I wouldn't have gone through all the searching if I didn't want the thing.
So she said I could buy another, if I wanted one that bad. I think I'll wait though. Mine might turn up, or she might take to wearing hers again. Or I might not need it any more ...
